We finally received our first shipment of the Hornady Lock-N-Load Case Prep Center! We were so excited to see how one worked – so we pulled out of the box and checked it out. Set up time was about three minutes, noise level was low, the part we were unaware of initially was the fact that you have to have a standard hornady shell holder for the caliber you are trimming (Prepping). So if your like us and run a L-N-L Progressive, and don’t have a shell holder  – you’ll need one first. You also should be aware that RCBS and Lyman shell holders do not work with this. (Hornady’s obviously work the best – and they didn’t pay us to say that)

 

We also for some reason didn’t read the description and realized half way into it that you’ll need to order the Large and Small Primer Pocket Reamers separately. (Lg 005-390751 and Sm 005-390750 both are $6.60)   

 

Overall it’s a really sturdy piece of equipment, great trimming and easy to finish up prep, and clean. As well the new improvement to the handle design gives better control bringing the case down to trim. (Notice the design on the cover of our 2009 catalog  vs the picture above. The price at first seems high, but we compared to RCBS Trim Pro Power Trimmer ($260.12) and Trim Mate Case Prep Center ($108.58) Combined total of $368.70 and realized it’s a pretty good bargain.

 

 

 

Meet Midsouth-sponsored Rifleman Kevin Angstadt!

 Kevin participates in shooting competitions around the country and is off to a great start in 2009! Our winner took part in the Regional and State Championships in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He won the Regional with a perfect score of 1920 and then went on to win the State match with a score of 1918!  Recently, he placed 7^th at the NRA’s National Action Shooting Bianchi Cup Championship.  He wrote,

“I had a hickup on the Practical and threw an 8. I finished up with a 1916- 173x. I shot a perfect 48x Barricade and came in 3rd after the tie breaker. Also came in 2nd place High Master Class and 1st Civilian team. All in all not a bad week but that 8 kept me from 5th place. The competition was real tight at the top this year.”

This sharp shooter has also earned enough ‘distinguished’ points to become the first shooter in the nation to be Distinguished in Production! Be sure to look for Kevin in future shooting competitions!
